Broadsoft Device Identity Profiles

Have a question about how Broadsoft handles Device Identity Profile files at the System and Group Levels ....were running R14sp9. I defined several custom Device Identity Profile Types (Aastra 57i 's) at the System Level and uploaded the corresponding config files for button layouts of the various phone types we deploy (Admin SCA, Standard Phone, Public Phone, etc). The thing I'm finding strange is at the Group level if I use one of the custom Device Identity Profile Types, then I upload a custom config file under the Identity/Device Profile Modify/Configure tab, the file that's written to the Provisioning Server is the System Level File and not the custom file I loaded via the Identity/Device Profile Modify/Configure tab. I mean it's not the end of the world if you allow file customization at the System Level when uploading the config file for the new Device Identity Profile, then upload the custom config under the "files" tab in the Identity/Device Profile Modify page, but you would think that the more specific group config would trump the system config file and Broadworks would have the "Configure Tab" grayed out or disabled to avoid confusion. The real kicker is the "Configure Tab" will not only allows you to upload a custom config, but rebuild the file and reset the phone too, with the end result being the rebuilt file is the "system file" not the custom file that Broadworks allows you to upload. Extension Mobility Issues.

Hello, It would be a good idea to connect the phone into either a hub or a switch with port mirroring capabilities and use a PC/laptop with a sniffer (such as Wireshark/Ethereal) to see what traffic is RX'ing/TX'ing to/from the device. Perhaps an ancillary function of the phone is failing (DHCP, BOOTP, DNS, HTTP, etc.) which causes the hang. Hello People / CUCME Experts, This is my very first post to this list, so hello to everyone, and i really hope to see if someone can suggest/recommend any troubleshooting action plan in which several Cisco 7961 loaded with the latest SCCP Firmware version (8.3(4) SR1) are displaying the Logging screen indefinitely and stays there forever, when configured to work with Extension Mobility, the same thing happens when trying to log out, the phone displays logging out indefinitely. We have to exit out of the screen on the 7961 phone to get back to the main screen. Canadian DIDs for SIP VoIP provider?

We're a VoIP provider in California with carrier arrangements for DIDs throughout much of the US. We have a few customers with offices in Canada and are beginning to get inquiries from others with cross-border US/Canadian presence. Has anyone gone down this path that can give some pointers? Obviously we can put IADs with FXO (or even PRI) ports on-premise at each customer location tied to the local telco but this doesn't scale all that well. I'm looking for legal/regulatory info about such things as taxes, 9-1-1, getting listed in the local white pages, etc. as well as any technical obstacles and recommended providers. Technically it appears to be pretty straightforward. Trouble getting access in a building.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to deal with someone who will not allow access to the building Telecom Closet? The problem we are having is with one of the building tenants and not the landlord. The telecom closet has wound up in the back of a tenants suite and they will only allow an AT&T tech to enter the closet. AT&T will not extend the wiring to our customer's suite because there is not a conduit, yet we can't get a tech into the closet to install the conduit. Even with the landlord's help we can't get in. They are a remote office for a state lottery and they keep throwing that it's a violation of their security policy. I am going to have to visit the site tomorrow and see if I can get anywhere with the person who would not let our tech into the telecom closet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Richey

Question for US based subscribers: Does anyone have a good, foolproof method of handling foreign white page listings and getting customer TNs into all 411 databases? We have found that many domestic phone companies will not accept FWPLs from Voip Service Providers....the whole thing can get messy and thorny. We have a vendor partner that does our 411 for us but not all companies subscribe to their data bases we have found...hit or miss in actual practice. Any ideas?
