Hello everyone, I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping someone on here works for Verizon Wireless or knows someone that is in a position to assist us. Recently, a change to call routing occurred and Verizon Wireless calls are now being delivered across our tandem instead of a SIP peer. Ideally, I would like to establish a SIP trunk to Verizon Wireless but changing the call flow is the short term goal. Thanks in advance for your help! ANIs flagged as telemarketer/spammer/scammer

Hi, So, of course, it is a known problem in the legitimate side of the lead engagement call centre, survey, etc. business that ANIs get flagged as "telemarketer" pretty quickly and start showing up that way on people's phones. Your normative viewpoint on that may vary depending on what you think of lead gen calls, but regardless, a reasonable person would differentiate between: (1) Legitimate outbound dialing operations that are following up with leads who provided their phone number and agreed to be called (at least, as a matter of clicking "accept" on _something_), or for some other legitimate mass-dialing purpose, and who actually own the DID inventory from which they present local-market ANIs and can in fact be reached on those numbers; (2) Illegal spammers who use fake ANIs and call people who did not in any way consent to being called by them. I am trying to learn a bit more about how this is done and what a legitimate, above-board business can do about it. Ignoring the factor of third-party call-screening apps (which most people with a mobile don't use), where is this generally implemented? As I understand it, T-Mobile do it on the network level. I have T-Mobile myself, and probably 2/3rds of unfamiliar numbers, including quite legitimate ones, show up as "Scam Likely" ? I know that's come up on the list before. AT&T displays "Telemarketer"; do they do it that way too, or do they use a Google Android feature for that which they enable as part of their carrier defaults for carrier-issued phones? What about other carriers and Android? As far as I know, Apple don't do anything like this. Do people with iPhones just not receive this "service"? How does that work? Asking where the central, or the most influential authority lies and who provides it goes to the heart of the real question, which is: what can a legitimate business do if their number has been blacklisted this way? As I understand it, the maintainers of these lists, along with the criteria for getting on them, are elusive and inscrutable, and there's really no recourse and no appeals process. I furthermore understand that this has led to the widespread approach of rotating ANIs, but that's a losing battle; they get flagged too. I imagine it won't be long before the criteria for "Scam Likely" are just "number appears to call lots of numbers in this rate centre and otherwise hasn't been around very long". But this is all just conjecture on my part; I really don't know much about how my carrier, anyone's carrier, or some BigCo that's behind my mobile OS decides that a call is a "telemarketer" or "scam" call. Connecting to Remote Tandems

I'm evaluating methods of extending our footprint. I purposely left out company names. One of the companies we talked to was really only interested in getting us the inbound long distance calls, not the local ones. Well, they would, but the terms were vastly different. Given that I still need to build out to connect to the local tandem, what's the point in using a third party to connect to long distance? Are the terms for connecting to the local tandems different because the access tandem is simpler, whereas the local tandem could potentially involve connections to a bunch of other switches, once volume dictated I needed direct connections... and they don't want to deal with that? Are there third parties that don't have vastly different terms for local tandem services? Also, is it likely that I just don't understand what's going on? We have a consultant filing our mitigation plan (June 30 deadline) and are working with Metaswitch\TNS on the technical aspects (seems like we have until 2022 to do that). >From some webinars I got the impression that we needed a variety of policy and procedure changes to be compliant. Where is a good resource to figure those out? Does anyone other than ShareTracker have data on market share? I saw this page when looking for something else. https://sharetracker.com/bandwidth-inteliquent-level3-and-peerless-tops-amo… It didn't seem right that Bandwidth had more of the market than Inteliquent and Level 3 (and potentially Vonage and Twilio) combined. Requirements for the Re-assigned Number Database - MUST register by October 2021!

As promised in my last e-mail, here's information on the Re-Assigned Number Database that EVERY voice carrier MUST register for and REPORT their disconnected phone numbers in. If you have less than 100,000 subscribers you are NOT EXEMPT - you only have until OCTOBER 15, 2021 to register AND start reporting! What is the RND Database? The FCC's Reassigned Numbers Database (RND) is designed to prevent a consumer from getting unwanted calls intended for someone who previously held their phone number. Callers can use the database to determine whether a telephone number may have been reassigned so they can avoid calling consumers who do not want to receive the calls What are the requirements for Service Providers? Record-keeping requirement: As of July 27, 2020, service providers are required to maintain records of the most recent date that each phone number assigned to one of their subscribers was permanently disconnected. Small business service providers (those providers with 100,000 or fewer domestic retail subscribers) had until January 27, 2021, to comply with the record maintenance rule. Aging requirement: As of July 27, 2020, all service providers are required to age telephone numbers for at least 45 days after permanent disconnection prior to reassignment. Reporting requirement: As of April 15, 2021, and recurring on the 15th of every month, service providers must report permanent disconnections of their subscribers' telephone numbers to the Reassigned Numbers Database Administrator (RNDA). Small business service providers (those service providers with 100,000 or fewer domestic retail subscribers) have until October 15, 2021, to comply with this reporting requirement. Suicide Hotline compliance requirements for ALL VOICE CARRIERS !

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that ALL VOICE carriers who operate in the NPAs / states on the attached list are required to comply with the 5 milestones NANPA has established to implement the new 3 digit dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline (988). NANPA's first step in implementing the 988 hotline is to establish mandatory 10 digit dialing for all areas of the country. This only affects 82 NPAs in 36 states because areas that have multiple NPAs already have mandatory 10 digit dialing. If you have any voice customers in these 82 NPAs, you are not only required to send out 2 customer notices and meet the 3 technical milestones. You are required to report your progress to NANPA! Attached is the list of the NPAs affected and the milestone guide which I pulled from NANPAs website. There are a lot of changes happening in the next few months with STIR/SHAKEN, the Suicide Prevention Hotline, and the Re-assigned Numbers Database so I just want to make sure everyone knows that they need to do something for each one.
