A tangent off of this. What numbers are you using to report back to the caller the caller ID of the line they're on? I just recently found out we're using 311 for what Metaswitch calls "ANI Test Service". Clearly (https://nationalnanpa.com/number_resource_info/n11_codes.html) that's not appropriate. Some of our local Frontier techs are using 800-444-4444 from MCI. It seems like Wikipedia acknowledges that this is a mess. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_number_announcement_circuit ----- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com Midwest Internet Exchange http://www.midwest-ix.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Hammett" <voiceops at ics-il.net> To: voiceops at voiceops.org Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2022 8:51:49 AM Subject: [VoiceOps] Test Numbers Our test equipment vendor (Exfo) has asked us about these capabilities, "milliwatt tone, quiet termination, or silent switchman." I don't know that I've seen the ability to configure those anywhere. How would I go about setting that up? I'm assuming that requires that my switch (Metaswitch) and endpoints (Zhone, Grandstream, Calix, Occam, and Innomedia) support them as well. I'm sure I can get platform-specific details from each of the vendors, but I'd like gain a bit of knowledge on that whole process before delving into vendor details. ----- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com Midwest Internet Exchange http://www.midwest-ix.com _______________________________________________ VoiceOps mailing list VoiceOps at voiceops.org https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/voiceops
