I don't remember anymore, I just know a pretty thick B2BUA and/or SBC had to be put in front of it so that it wouldn't be an embarrassment on a SIP 101 sort of level. We were using a proxy before, which is a thinner interop layer. I also didn't know that Squire had boxes that could take hard SS7 links; I thought all of their SS7-side stuff was actually IP (SIGTRAN)? Don't know anything about Aculab. RJ Auburn wrote:
What kind of issues did you hit? I have been looking at them for a few solutions in the past but have not done heavy interop work.
What about Aculab? They have their groomer box that they say works pretty well with a ton of different signaling systems.

You might want to look a Squire (http://www.squire-technologies.co.uk/) as well unless you want to go as far as a full switch/gateway platform that includes SS7 functions such as Sonus, Metaswitch, Lucent, etc.
I've had some very, very, very bad experiences with Squire's SIP stack.
