[VoiceOps] How do you pull the other carrier's information to port

I have a client that is just getting into porting and he asked me how to go about gathering the information needed to port a number to them. I have the basic concept of it but haven't really got involved in doing it so I'm not sure how most CLECs gather the information they need to port a number to themselves. I know the LECs LSR system usually has a lot of information about existing services so I told him to look there, but what do most of you that actually do porting use to pull the information you need on the service provider that you want to port away from?
