Issue with Cisco Catalyst Switch in IBM Blade Center

Hi All: Have you seen issues with Cisco Catalyst Switch in the IBM Blade Center that causes all the other Cards in the Blade Center to be partially responsive. I'm not familiar with the IBM, but use a Dell blade system with Cisco Catalyst 5316M switches in it, and have seen a similar issue. Is this also a 5316M switch? -- Carlos Alvarez TelEvolve 602-889-3003 Advanced phone services simplified

How often does the issue occur ? I will confirm the switch model. The switch seemed really bogged down and slow in responding to commands on the login session and once we rebooted it, the issue cleared away. It was 100% of the time with one model of blade server in the chassis, and never with another (older) model. Dell was never able to get it straightened out. They wanted us to do things that had significant downtime and risk, and we couldn't do it on a production chassis, so we simply stopped using the more modern blades. I should add that the same switch lost all of its settings and was replaced during a system shutdown/restart. It may have been a defective switch. Being a production system my ability to troubleshoot is limited, so I just stuck in a replacement we had on hand for such eventualities. -- Carlos Alvarez TelEvolve 602-889-3003 Advanced phone services simplified
