Historically, we used multiple entities to get us off-net numbers. Who, what, when, I don't know. I have off-net numbers configured in my Metaswitch where I don't know who our upstream was, if we still have them, who they belonged to, etc. I can easily figure out what CLEC has them now, but we all know that there was probably someone between me and them, I just don't know who. Is there any likelihood of being able to determine that? I assume the different CLECs that "own" these numbers are not going to tell me who their reseller was, for me to then follow up with. ----- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com Midwest Internet Exchange http://www.midwest-ix.com

Surely you have commercial relationships with these entities, and can work backward from "who am I paying?"? On Fri, Mar 17, 2023, 4:26 PM Mike Hammett via VoiceOps < voiceops at voiceops.org> wrote:

I did that for the ones I knew of and yet still have a non-zero amount of numbers where I don't know where they live. ----- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com Midwest Internet Exchange http://www.midwest-ix.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ross Tajvar" <ross at tajvar.io> To: "Mike Hammett" <voiceops at ics-il.net> Cc: "VoiceOps" <voiceops at voiceops.org> Sent: Friday, March 17, 2023 3:32:53 PM Subject: Re: [VoiceOps] Off-Net Numbers Surely you have commercial relationships with these entities, and can work backward from "who am I paying?"? Post the DIDs here with the CLECs and maybe we can figure it out? Call the CLEC and tell them your situation and have them provide your contact information to their customer and ask the CLEC to have that customer contact you? They won't tell you who the customer is, but they will usually pass on a note to have them contact you. It would be weird if you had active (you tested them, yes?) DIDs with a carrier that you were not paying... Beckman On Fri, 17 Mar 2023, Mike Hammett via VoiceOps wrote:

I mean, call them and see what trunk group they come in on. Surely there must be a hint like that somewhere. They can't come in out of thin air.
