Anyone have any details with respect it works under the hood and whether there is an API to add/report/remove numbers? (understanding that removal may not be something they allow? ) Companies like TrueCaller offer an API. Google has been offering spam flagging as a part of the Phone app, yet there is very little info out there? Is Apple doing something similar? Thanks! Apple doesn't have anything like this built in, but you can use TrueCaller, Hiya, and the like on iOS. I'm not aware of anything you can do other than flagging "not spam" in the app. I have clients who are challenged by this, and assume that's why you are asking. Like totally legit medical office billing that's flagged by scumbags who don't want to pay a bill, and think that's proper retaliation. Not collection agencies, just the billing office or even the practice itself. On Wed, Oct 25, 2017 at 1:31 PM, Ivan Kovacevic < ivan.kovacevic at startelecom.ca> wrote:

In general, yes. So the question is, how do legitimate numbers get removed and who decides what is legitimate or not (or is Google the judge, jury and executioner all at once). I can see them getting in legal trouble by not providing a mechanism to remedy/correct issues. Several frustrated customers (or deadbeats) could flag a legitimate number and cause significant financial loss. The users who flag numbers are the judge and jury. The current method will be forced to change for a few reasons. On one side, "victims" of improper flagging are going to raise a stink. It's an overall impediment to business if customers can't be reached. The users of these apps will likely start revolting also when they miss calls. On the other end, the abusive callers will find ways around it, they always do, and already are. Such as changing CLID many times in an hour, or just faking it.
