
Hi all, We are re-negotiating one of our carrier contracts and we have come across a new fee that we have not seen before. The carrier is looking to include a "port away" fee for when we lose a line to another carrier. Has anyone heard of this before? (Off-line replies are welcome.) Tim Donahue

Everything is negotiable, but we've seen this from some carriers. There's definitely a cost in handling both sides of the process, so it makes sense. -- Carlos Alvarez TelEvolve 602-889-3003

You should be able to negotiate and possibly remove those fees. I have seen those fees set for numbers that are being ported away after less than a year in service.
