There isn't any legal requirement to provide anything other than 911 and 711 today; however depending on your target market, providing other N11 services may be required for customer acceptance. Land-line replacement plays will probably need to provide at least 311,411, 611 and 811. If anyone out there has had any success with On Fri, 2009-08-28 at 09:30 -0500, drooster at verizon.net wrote:
Hello All,
I know this is going to be a broad quesiton, but I need to see if anybody has any information/doc's on what VoIP Companies have to abide by for N11 Services.
Quick Definition: N11 codes, more formally known as service codes, are used to provide three-digit dialing access to special services. In the U.S., the FCC administers N11 codes. The FCC recognizes 211, 311, 511, 711, 811 and 911 as nationally assigned, but has not disturbed other traditional uses. The table below summarizes N11 assignments, reservations, and traditional usage.
I am mainly interested in if N11 services, besides 911, can be denied in a voip network without running into FCC mandate issues?
Thanks
Doug
