Hi, Who do you like for data centers these days? Looking for a site more than 1000 miles from Chicago. Thanks!

I like places with on-site doggie daycare. -- Sent from mobile device On Feb 9, 2010, at 2:24 PM, Lunch Hound <lunchhound9999 at gmail.com> wrote:

I'm a fan of not picking one where there is an active fault line... Colin On Feb 9, 2010, at 2:37 PM, Alex Balashov wrote:

I'm totally on board with above sea level and not in middle of a civil war front, too. -- Sent from mobile device On Feb 9, 2010, at 2:38 PM, Colin <zavoid at gmail.com> wrote:

My data is a bit old, but we had a consultant do a review of carrier hotel locations and geographies. Some of the ones that were rated reasonably high are: Equinix - have centers all over the world including Chicago. Fairly spendy but seemed to have the most carrier pops to cross connect to. Westin Bldg in Seattle - right next to the hotel of the same name. Pittock Block in Portland, Oregon Sterling Network in Phoenix Verizon - Denver and Seattle I probably don't need to say this, but from our experience, the best carrier hotels are the ones that are the most carrier agnostic and have the most pops in their meet me room. Its also important in our view to check with your carriers to see if their pops in any of these centers are actually useable from a cross connect perspective. You need to ask not just if they are there but what type of presence they have. A small but important point according to our experience. We're in there and we're moving out ASAP. It was bought by another organization and there are significant issues. If you want details I'll be happy to give a few. Top one is that summer cooling is insufficient and there are big industrial fans in the walkways to try to keep servers from melting down. We're also in the Puregig facility here and very happy with that. -- Carlos Alvarez TelEvolve 602-889-3003 Advanced phone services simplified

Take a look at switch communications in Vegas. By far one of the best faculties in the world. Their new supernap building has over 400,000 of datacenter space designed to support 1500 watts per sq. ft. power density. http://www.switchnap.com/ --- RJ Auburn CTO, Voxeo Corporation tel:+1-407-418-1800 On Feb 9, 2010, at 10:29 PM, Steve Dispensa wrote:
