Hey all, just wondering slash curious about something. I have a client who had their domain pseudo-typosquatted and whomever is behind it went as far as registering a toll free number with a professional sounding AutoAttendant referencing the victim company's name and the owner on a dial by name directory. There are no accents/typos in the autoattendant and dialing an extension, as we all can imagine, is likely being call forwarded or trunked elsewhere. In any event, I would like to track down what carrier is responsible for the number but have had no luck asking/enquiring/etc to my carriers (big 3-4 Level, VZ, Global, Paetec)... Any takers on tracking who owns this number? -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ J. You can find out the resporg by dialing 800-337-4194. It'll give you the Resporg ID, carrier and the support number associated with that company. On Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 11:53 AM, J. Oquendo <sil at infiltrated.net> wrote:

That below number is the Ameritech RESPORG ID service and I recommend it too. The two main issues are that it only gives you a generic code (which you can usually look up here: http://www.tollfreenumbers.com/resporg/resporg-ids.html), and that "native" numbers (ones owned by certain carriers in certain ranges) get a "not in the DB" response. Another RESPORG lookup number is the following one from Sprint, but this gets you to a person, not an automated system, and only during business hours: (800) 578-1000 If you pay someone to act as your RESPORG, you should also be able to contact them and ask them to look it up. If you have the ability, dip the number to see the carrier. Then you'll have to contact them, though I wouldn't know if they'd willingly release that information. Perhaps a RESPORG would have more tools to do something, I'm just looking at it from a LEC perspective. -Aaron On 1/31/2012 8:53 AM, J. Oquendo wrote:
