I have used Google's Geo Map and Intensity Map (along with other charts etc.) for internal dashboards and it is really easy to use. I use it to visualize values which make sense in the context I am looking for whether it be a representation of call volume, minutes, spend etc. It probably isn't something you want to display publically but as an internal tool it is simple and effective. Obviously this is an external service but you are sending data without context to it so use your best judgment on whether it is appropriate for you to use within your IP and security policies. PacWest termination issues in So Cal

We're seeing strange problems with calls inbound to our customers, mostly NPA 805, through PacWest. They claim it's just us. Uverse - CGN?

Does AT&T Uverse (specifically Cleveland OH) use CGN? If so, how would that affect an off-site IP phone extension to a PBX? EVRC IPR Licensing

I have a client who requires the use of the EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate) CODEC (wireless). Based on some online research I can see that there are a host of IPR owners for this CODEC. Spoofed Traffic

One of our customers is reporting that their ANI is being used to make calls. I've verified that the traffic isn't traversing our network, but I'm not sure of where to look next. The customer doesn't necessarily want to know who is making the calls, but wants them to stop. I know I can contact Verizon, who owns the number, but since the calls aren't being originated from us or our customer, I'm not sure how they can help. Does anyone have ideas of how to go about blocking this since we aren't the LEC owner of the DID? ~Jared

Outbound fax portal options

Similar to the conference server question I posted yesterday, I'm also looking at alternatives to our fax portal server. We have a web portal that we wrote a couple years ago that our customers can use to send faxes. The web portal converts and transfers images to an Asterisk server (version 1.6.2 I think) and then generates call files to make Asterisk send the faxes over T.38. We do not use this service to receive faxes; we just use Broadworks Fax Messaging service for that. We haven't been happy with the function of the portal or the success rate of the outgoing faxes, so I'm looking to replace it with something better integrated and more reliable. So far, I'm looking at faxback carrier edition (I assume we'll have to front it with our web portal to send emails to it or use an API). The easiest way to start with this type of service is go get a hub ds3 from xo or twtelecom. They sell the hubs per market and or nationwide. Optimizing VoIP orig routing to exploit Verizon VoIP TDM interconnections

I'm trying to plan a US nationwide georedundant SIP interconnect with Verizon for origination and termination. I want to minimize delay between parties, and heuristically I'll pretend people tend to talk more to other people who are local. So it seems smart to get my "western" origination traffic to my Western SBC primarily, and my "eastern" traffic to my Eastern SBC. Does anyone have a good method for deciding which side of the country it makes sense to send traffic to? For example, when I port a Minneapolis number to Verizon, is it any better to have Verizon send it west, or east? Or does it make no difference at all? My current method is simply to use the Mississippi River.
