Good morning, My apologies if this isn't quite the right list for this question. We're in the middle of developing a VoIP IVR application and in one of our prompts we need the user to speak names of people. Once the recording is complete, we'd like to automatically convert that recording to text for saving to a database. Currently, we've been testing Google Voice's API and have had pretty decent luck (compared to other 'free' solutions); however, we've also encountered gems such as: the lord's johnson (Delores Johnson) oh my god it's got a carburetor (Ernesto Mogato, Edgar Carbrera) we bake a 10 year reunion (Willie Baker, Daneil Munjez) It appears that many of of the speech-to-text engines are designed for phrases instead of names. Would anyone happen to have any recommendations for speech-to-text engines that do a good job recognizing names? Are any of them better than others regarding dealing with accents? We're open to suggestions of the free, open-source, or commercial variety if the accuracy is there. Thank you, Brandon Lehmann

Indeed, The problem is most of these numbers will hit one or two customers and then never appear again. So, blocking the calling numbers isn't going to get me anywhere since chances are it's different next time. I did call a hand full of them to see if I got anywhere, But they either didn't route anywhere and sat dead till I hung up or came back as "can not be completed as dialed". I too saw that they were all Level3 numbers by the current LRN. Granted, Level3 sells service to tons of Over the top VOIP places like Vitelity..etc which allow you to provision a number via a web portal in seconds. That being said, There is no reason to assume the calling party actually has this TN and isn't just filling the Caller ID with random L3 numbers. I too get a immediate hangup when calling 2564002365. Hello Everyone, We've been seeing a lot of strange inbound calls to our toll free numbers recently. The only thing they have in common is the caller ID text is always a city and a state. And the the call duration is 60 seconds on the dot..Every time. Considering they are calling toll free numbers I assume this is some kind of fraud attempt. IE. Calling tons of random Toll Free numbers so the terminating carrier pays the originator..etc. Anyone else seeing this? Anything we can do to stop these? Greetings! We have a customer whose users work from home over the local broadband carrier. They have 3 users who have complained of similar circumstances, where they are receiving multiple calls from caller ID such as "100(100)", "101(101)", and "1001(1001)". We show no record of these calls, either from CDR's, logs, or SIP captures, so it seems that there is an outside party sending SIP directly to the (Polycom) handsets. Anyone seen this? Any idea if there is a particular security hole being attempted? Assuming the users cannot control their broadband router, any suggestions on how to better lock this down? Thanks

SPID parameter in LNP redirects

Hi all, A question for you: do LNP-over-SIP providers--the kinds that return RFC 4694-encoded SIP redirects with the LRN in the 'rn' parameter in the user part of the Contact URI--commonly return the SPID/OCN as well? One major provider we know does; they return a 'spid' on all numbers, regardless of whether 'rn' does. However, others don't return any operator-identifying information at all apart from the LRN. Does anyone have a sense, anecdotally, of how common it is to give back a SPID?
