Anyone have any suggestions regarding which existing ICA might be the most favorable in terms of collocation in AT&T wire centers? Also, an idea of how the TRRO affects UNE dark fiber availability (same market)? ~SP

The sales and marketing folks in one of our sister companies strongly desire to have local contact numbers in a variety of countries. Australia, UK, Venezuela, and India come up a lot. We're talking origination only, one number per country, very low call volumes. While they do a lot of business outside of the U.S., I'll freely admit that my experience with SIP carriers outside of the U.S. is exactly zero. Any suggestions on where to start my research? Most solutions I can find don't really seem to scale down to a single TN per country very well. If you want to sell me the perfect solution, I'd suggest private e-mail rather than replying to the list. AT&T Ground Start Loop Order

We are trying to order the ground start loop I had posted about a few weeks back. This is for that same USOC in order to get the less expensive Ground Start loop ordered, any idea which of these NC codes is correct or if it even matters? This is all I have; the AT&T LSC ran the USOC through their internal software and this is what it referenced: Analog DID Reversed Battery LX- TXNU 02QC2.RVO(2W Reverse Battery-Term @ end user) 02QC2.RVT(2W Reverse Battery-Orig. @ end user) 02RV2.T 02RV2.O "UNE LOOP W/O EQUIP,NO T" The LSC says one NCI represents "with equipment" one represents "without". Verizon and Qwest describe it as "terminating" and "originating". It appears as though one needs a battery to power the line on the customer end, and one is provided power. That's at least my understanding of it. This is for AT&T Midwest. Thanks, Eric

(oops. I mistakenly sent that last message before I was ready.) Hi, folks, I see that Voxbone have started to enable their DIDs to relay inbound SMSes. Are any other providers doing likewise? Are they doing so over encrypted sessions, or is it all still plaintext? (More and more entities, including Google, are using SMS as a supposedly-out-of-band way of relaying secure tidbits such as password reset info.) Have you IT folks provided that functionality to end-users in a business setting? Any best practices / gotchas? thanks, Graham

Just heard about a CLEC that was able to establish a new ICA for the 4 regions and opt out of the 911 requirement! So it sounds like everyone should be able to amend their ICA to add that provision. Lucent 5010 - Caller ID Wrong to AT&T Wireless

Has anyone else with a Alcatel-Lucent 5010 (Telica Plexus 9000 or Lucent Compact Switch are other names) ever had issues with caller-id number being incorrect when sent to AT&T Wireless? We have several customers with multiple sites that share a common PRI (IP PBX Distributes the calls). The subscriber interface is set to allow the customer to set their own caller-id (CGPN) but the ANI for the call is based on the physical interface and doesn't change. If we set the ANI to change with CGPN then 911 fails to get the proper number. Any advice is appreciated Thanks! Does anyone here have any recommendations for who to use for a telecom/clec lawyer? Specifically to fight ATT 911 requirements as well as ICA negotiation with ATT, Frontier, etc... Looking for someone who is available (ie. actually returns calls), has a reasonable rate, and is knowledgeable. Thanks all! -Eric

Outbound Caller-ID Name Issue on Certain Carriers

We are having increasing numbers of complaints from our users that they make outbound calls and the far end sees the incorrect calling party name. We have "ABC Company" loaded into the CNAM DB , we make test calls to a local LEC line and the correct name shows up. That same customer calls a Comcast, MetroPCS, Vonage, etc number and the far end sees "Dominos Pizza"(for example). I have been putting out dozens of fires with these terminating carriers for a couple of weeks, they find the problem and fix it and we move forward. This is normal business but have seen an enormous increase in these kind of reports from customers. Anyone else out there seeing this kind of issue recently? -- **Christian Pena**
