I just learned that a new telecom service provider must have a DC Agent. Can anyone explain why a CLEC must have DC Agent and what is the role of a DC Agent. Any referrals? Thanks much!

Broadworks and RHEL5

I am preparing to install new Broadworks servers with R14.SP9 to replace some legacy servers running R14.SP9 with RHEL4 Workstation. I want to install RHEL5 on the new servers. Can anyone confirm if I should be using RHEL5 Server or RHEL5 Desktop with Workstation license? With RHEL4 Broadsoft requires the the Workstation version instead of Server. The Broadworks docs for RHEL5 reference Enterprise, but both Server and Desktop w/Workstation are referred to by Red Hat as Enterprise. Thanks, Mark

CenturyLink Outage

We seem to be experiencing an outage with CenturyLink in the 308 area code, seeing backup DSL as well as T1 circuits all down. Trying to call their NOC and we just get a fast busy. Curious if anyone else is seeing issues with CenturyLink right now. Thanks, Nick Colton Allo Communications

Time change?

Hello, I have a strange problem, I can't seem to understand. Maybe someone knows the answer. A customer of mine has a Panasonic KXT phone system and I provide phone service via Adtran 908e analog trunks (not PRI). He claims ever since he switched providers, that his phone system date/time stamp has been off (says November, 4am). His phone system guy called me and asked if I was "sending" time over the analog lines. I am unfamiliar with analog phone lines sending a date/time stamp, but I am sort of new to this game. Is this possible? They said they are able to configure the phone system to proper time, but then when calls come in, the date/time changes back . I just checked the clock on the Adtran and indeed it says: Adtran#show clock 04:26:42 UTC Sat Nov 28 2009 So it appears I am wrong. Analog lines do send date/time ??? Jim

What's wrong with pcapsipdump? This will also keep your logs and monitoring accurate. Switch Vendor follow up

My previous post regarding our decision leaning towards Metaswitch generated a lot of responses (off list, and on).? It seemed as though most people were happy or elated ?with Metaswitch.? However, I had some direct contacts from a couple of? Taqua users, and how they have some big benefits, with regard to Hosted PBX.? This is a feature that we are particularly interested in. Sometimes it's tough to narrow down a vendor when dealing with a potentially ?complex solution, and? you don't know what your experience will be until you have the equipment on-site. That's why I wanted to "poll the audience" to find out what others were using.? Anyways, just wanted to say that I appreciate the feedback, and we are looking further into the Broadsoft/Taqua avenue.
