TNS SS7 Outage

Does anyone have any information on the TNS SS7 outage going on now? Both of our A-links go to different facilities (Chicago and Ashburn) over different VPNs (which are up). TNS has acknowledged that it's a carrier issue. Verizon Call Completion Issues

I was having call completion issues with Verizon Wireless, so I routed around them and put in a ticket with Frontier (tandem operator). Instead of the usual snarky responses, I got back activity. They actually dispatched someone to the CO. They saw issues and escalated with Verizon. They later said that VZB confirmed there's a higher-level issue, but wouldn't give any ticket information. DIDWW API DNS Issue

DIDWW seems to be midway between moving from GoDaddy DNS to their own internal DNS. Their DNS Servers are cached for 1 hour. We started seeing DNS failures for api.didww.com which returns no entries from ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: didww.com. 3600 IN NS ns14.domaincontrol.com. didww.com. 3600 IN NS ns13.domaincontrol.com. However, when querying the root .com DNS servers, their NS records changed web1 : /usr/local/apps --> dig didww.com @a.gtld-servers.net ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: didww.com. 172800 IN NS ns1.didww.com. didww.com. 172800 IN NS ns2.didww.com. We have hardcoded the IP for api.didww.com and web-fe-api.didww.com to continue API operations with DIDWW until the DNS caches expire and the new information is updated. Please, y'all -- when doing a DNS migration, ensure 1000% that your DNS records on your old DNS provider match your DNS records on your new DNS provider, and plan your DNS migration early by setting the TTL for your NS records at least to 5 minutes (300 seconds) if allowed, 30 seconds if you can. Assume all caching servers will cache for 5 minutes even if you set it to 30 seconds. Verizon Wireless Contact

Hello everyone, I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping someone on here works for Verizon Wireless or knows someone that is in a position to assist us. Recently, a change to call routing occurred and Verizon Wireless calls are now being delivered across our tandem instead of a SIP peer. Ideally, I would like to establish a SIP trunk to Verizon Wireless but changing the call flow is the short term goal. Thanks in advance for your help! It doesn't show that he's closed his consulting business so I'd still call and talk to him. He may be able to refer you to someone else if he can't help. Telco Circuit Database software

Does anyone have any recommendations for good telco circuit management systems? We're currently using a combination of phpipam for ip address management SIP endpoints, etc. spreadsheets and circuit diagrams, etc. for the people who are connecting via traditional T1. Hoping there's something out there that's better. I'm envisioning something that will store the A and Z end, as well as the CLLI code that the major providers are still using, upstream contact info, circuit ID, TT Phone number, and all of the intermediate stuff -- channels on a DS3, slots, ports, etc. Thanks

Misrouting 911 Calls?

One of my clients has a large SIP trunk with Comcast based out of Washington State. They have all their offices across Oregon and Washington hooked into a FreePBX phone server that is attached to the Comcast SIP trunk. 911 calls *constantly* get misrouted to the local PSAP where the SIP trunk lives. I must have called Comcast 30 times over the last few years to try and get this addressed, but Comcast flat-out refuses to fix the issue. The short answer is that Comcast refuses to fix it. In some (but not all) cases, our phone numbers are RCF'd numbers, so they don't actually exist on the trunk...and Comcast forcibly re-writes them to our 'main' number...and then routes the 911 call incorrectly. In other cases, we have provided Comcast with the e911 information, they say it's updated, and then we find out months later (when an office dials 911 during an emergency) that it's still not correct. Not only does this affect 911 calls, but also customers who get the re-written caller ID and have no idea which office called them. The "easy" solution is to ditch Comcast and move to a provider that doesn't play the RCF and caller-ID-rewrite games. Unfortunately my client is locked into their Comcast contract for another ~18 months. Early termination would incur a ~$35,000 bill. Is there a list of PSAP numbers somewhere so I can set up an internal redirect to the PSAP 10-digit number? I know those 10-digit numbers are guarded like Fort Knox, so I'm betting this option isn't very realistic. Maybe a separate service provider that can just handle 911 calls without "owning" my client's phone numbers? Any other thoughts on how I can route around Comcast brain damage? Thanks, -A

VoIP is a restricted business?

Hello, Happy New Year everyone. I recently became aware of the fact that banks (and financial institutions) define any business that merely mentions the word VoIP as restricted. Meaning they would not allow such a business to work with them. As if VoIP is some kind of an illegal substance. I am confident that when it comes to larger players they are not defined as a VoIP business... One company (Wise/Wisetransfer) even claimed that their regulation requires them to do that. I wonder if you have any more information and how do you deal with this. Thanks, Oren

acrobits app - sounds pop and crackle

i've noticed "scratchy" sounding phone calls when using the app, but when i make calls with the native iphone app, it works fine when i use the acrobits app, it sounds like something is in the speaker - best described as pop and crackling anyone else using acrobits and found a solution for this issue ?
