question about stir/shaken - iat and DATE header

All, Pretty simple question here. When you do a verify request are you filling in the iat with your sbc's current date/time or using the DATE information from the invite? With Neustar the iat is currently optional. IQNT is basically removing the DATE header in a test we are doing by sending them a call and getting it back in a different region. It really does not make sense to me to use the DATE header because it could be messed with by anyone in the path. It is untrusted. The iat is trusted so when you verify it makes more sense to use the current date/time of your SBC because the limitation is 60 seconds from AS to VS. I imagine Neustar made it optional because their own system has some intelligence when it comes to this expiration of the AS. On top of that Metaswitch is not prepared for this situation. They are basically counting on that DATE header to be there in their recommended perimeta SBC config. They plan to fix it by using the current date/time. Just looking for how others are handling this. Just leaving it blank for now? Matt

TMobile Sending Calls to LRN not Called Number

Anyone else seeing calls from TMobile coming in with the LRN as the called number? The ISUP doesn't show the actual called number so we can't route the calls. -Matthew

We have a consultant filing our mitigation plan (June 30 deadline) and are working with Metaswitch\TNS on the technical aspects (seems like we have until 2022 to do that). >From some webinars I got the impression that we needed a variety of policy and procedure changes to be compliant. Where is a good resource to figure those out? Does anyone other than ShareTracker have data on market share? I saw this page when looking for something else. https://sharetracker.com/bandwidth-inteliquent-level3-and-peerless-tops-amo… It didn't seem right that Bandwidth had more of the market than Inteliquent and Level 3 (and potentially Vonage and Twilio) combined. Requirements for the Re-assigned Number Database - MUST register by October 2021!

As promised in my last e-mail, here's information on the Re-Assigned Number Database that EVERY voice carrier MUST register for and REPORT their disconnected phone numbers in. If you have less than 100,000 subscribers you are NOT EXEMPT - you only have until OCTOBER 15, 2021 to register AND start reporting! What is the RND Database? The FCC's Reassigned Numbers Database (RND) is designed to prevent a consumer from getting unwanted calls intended for someone who previously held their phone number. Callers can use the database to determine whether a telephone number may have been reassigned so they can avoid calling consumers who do not want to receive the calls What are the requirements for Service Providers? Record-keeping requirement: As of July 27, 2020, service providers are required to maintain records of the most recent date that each phone number assigned to one of their subscribers was permanently disconnected. Small business service providers (those providers with 100,000 or fewer domestic retail subscribers) had until January 27, 2021, to comply with the record maintenance rule. Aging requirement: As of July 27, 2020, all service providers are required to age telephone numbers for at least 45 days after permanent disconnection prior to reassignment. Reporting requirement: As of April 15, 2021, and recurring on the 15th of every month, service providers must report permanent disconnections of their subscribers' telephone numbers to the Reassigned Numbers Database Administrator (RNDA). Small business service providers (those service providers with 100,000 or fewer domestic retail subscribers) have until October 15, 2021, to comply with this reporting requirement. Suicide Hotline compliance requirements for ALL VOICE CARRIERS !

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that ALL VOICE carriers who operate in the NPAs / states on the attached list are required to comply with the 5 milestones NANPA has established to implement the new 3 digit dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline (988). NANPA's first step in implementing the 988 hotline is to establish mandatory 10 digit dialing for all areas of the country. This only affects 82 NPAs in 36 states because areas that have multiple NPAs already have mandatory 10 digit dialing. If you have any voice customers in these 82 NPAs, you are not only required to send out 2 customer notices and meet the 3 technical milestones. You are required to report your progress to NANPA! Attached is the list of the NPAs affected and the milestone guide which I pulled from NANPAs website. There are a lot of changes happening in the next few months with STIR/SHAKEN, the Suicide Prevention Hotline, and the Re-assigned Numbers Database so I just want to make sure everyone knows that they need to do something for each one. Call Quality

I've heard a variety of complaints and concerns over the years about call quality. How are these quality issues introduced? As long as pipes and equipment aren't overloaded, where is a quality issue to come from? Obviously, the closer you are to the handsets, the less opportunity there is for issues.
