Connecting to Remote Tandems

I'm evaluating methods of extending our footprint. I purposely left out company names. One of the companies we talked to was really only interested in getting us the inbound long distance calls, not the local ones. Well, they would, but the terms were vastly different. Given that I still need to build out to connect to the local tandem, what's the point in using a third party to connect to long distance? Are the terms for connecting to the local tandems different because the access tandem is simpler, whereas the local tandem could potentially involve connections to a bunch of other switches, once volume dictated I needed direct connections... and they don't want to deal with that? Are there third parties that don't have vastly different terms for local tandem services? Also, is it likely that I just don't understand what's going on? TransNexus STIR/SHAKEN Stats

TransNexus made a blog post https://transnexus.com/blog/2021/shaken-stats-june/ which shows the percentage of calls that had Passport headers in June. Inteliquent, Lumen/Centurylink, Frontier, Windstream, Intrado, Peerless seem to be missing from the list unless they are under the SaaS providers. I'm glad that many carriers are putting certs behind a CDN. The ones that aren't seem split between being hosted on AWS and self hosted. Validation will add to PDD, so CDNs will hopefully make it less of an issue. ~Jared

Bandwidth vs Inteliquent

If you had to choose only between these two providers for wholesale services, which would you choose and why? We are only considering these two as the softswitch we are planning on using (Netsapiens) has only built out Group MMS support for these two carriers APIs, and no one else. I have used many services over the years that have utilized both of these carriers, but I have never had a direct relationship with them. Which has a better portal, API, and company overall? What are the true differences? Are there any resellers to consider where we would still have direct access to these carriers APIs?

I have been out of the game for about 20 years and now I am back. I have a lot to catch up on but I'm hoping this listserv can help me out. I have a few questions * Is it possible to interconnect directly with a PSAP? * Is a CLEC license/agreement still required? * Is this interconnection still only offered via TDM or is IP/SIP an option? The answer to all 3 is, it depends. Generally there are non clec ways to attach to 911 directly (the exact process will have to be worked out by talking to the carrier providing 911 in that area) (or indirectly through the likes of intrado or intelliquent) and at least in Michigan, the carrier who won 911 contracts throughout Michigan actually is native IP on the network, and TDM connectivity is an upcharge. Shapefile\KMZ of Ratecenters

Is there a source of shapefile\kmz data of ratecenters so that I can paint a better view of coverages? It's hard to tell where coverage is and isn't with just a spreadsheet. 8YY Traffic

Is there any reason I can't throw all 8YY traffic at my IXC tandem? In looking in my Metaswitch config, it appears that only 8YY traffic destined for my LATA (which doesn't really make any sense) goes to the tandem. Market Leaders?

Last time I looked into this was Level3 and Global Crossing but that was some time ago. I know bandwidth has a close relationship with Microsoft for Teams because they say there are the only provider that can offer E911 services for Direct Routing for Teams. I find this odd because I thought all that was needed for E911 services was a connection to the PSAP or am a wrong? question about stir/shaken - iat and DATE header

All, Pretty simple question here. When you do a verify request are you filling in the iat with your sbc's current date/time or using the DATE information from the invite? With Neustar the iat is currently optional. IQNT is basically removing the DATE header in a test we are doing by sending them a call and getting it back in a different region. It really does not make sense to me to use the DATE header because it could be messed with by anyone in the path. It is untrusted. The iat is trusted so when you verify it makes more sense to use the current date/time of your SBC because the limitation is 60 seconds from AS to VS. I imagine Neustar made it optional because their own system has some intelligence when it comes to this expiration of the AS. On top of that Metaswitch is not prepared for this situation. They are basically counting on that DATE header to be there in their recommended perimeta SBC config. They plan to fix it by using the current date/time. Just looking for how others are handling this. Just leaving it blank for now? Matt

TMobile Sending Calls to LRN not Called Number

Anyone else seeing calls from TMobile coming in with the LRN as the called number? The ISUP doesn't show the actual called number so we can't route the calls. -Matthew
