Verizon caller ID name service

It appears that Verizon Android phones now come with a Verizon-specific app that shows caller name. It also looks like this probably doesn't do a proper dip, but has cached data. Can anyone confirm that? A customer is reporting a CNAM error, but everything looks good to us. Their only tests have been to two Androids on Verizon (well, and an iPhone, but that doesn't show a name).

West ERS SOAP API

Anybody here use West's ERS system for E911 ALI provisioning and routing to PSAPs? Of those who do, is anybody using their SOAP API to programmatically do the provisioning? I feel like I'm getting nowhere with the contacts I have over there so far, and I'm tearing my hair out. I was provided with a manual and set of WSDLs, but getting our account provisioned over there correctly has been a minor headache, the manual seems incomplete, and when I make test calls against certain functions, I find that the service defined in the WSDL is bound to a URL that is simply returning HTTP 404. I mean, seriously... I'd love to talk to someone (on-list or off-list) who has successfully performed this integration so that I can get clarification on the parts I'm missing and that West hasn't bothered to document or communicate to me. PSTN/Mobile termination with DTLS SRTP (WebRTC)

Hello, anyone aware of providers that supports DTLS-SRTP termination/origination of the audio? I can setup a Kamailio+RTPEngine box in my side, but it would save a bit in complexity/operations for small deployments to avoid additional systems if both far ends support such streams already. 911 and large numbers of corporate home phones

I'm wondering what people are doing, and their interpretation of the laws, with companies where they have large numbers of remote (home) users. So far we have only a few really, and we provide 911 for each phone's own CLID. Now we have a customer who wants to have a very large number, PLUS have an office handset, home handset, softphone on a computer, and softphone on a mobile. It makes little sense to put 911 service on each of these.

Growing difficulties porting DIDs out of major VoIP carriers

Hello, I am hoping that someone may be able to shed some light as to the difficulties mobile carriers have to port DIDs away from major VoIP carriers such as Bandwidth and Onvoy. The problem does not seem to be on the VoIP providers. In most of the cases, they do not even receive an LSR. The mobile carriers seem to be asking for a CSR multiple times but never submit an LSR, then they tell the EU that the port request has failed. In another case, when the DID is with Bandwidth, the ATT system tells the customer that the number is with LOCKED with Google Voice and cannot be ported. I wonder who builds these faulty systems for these corporations? Any advice is appreciated. Oren

Shoretel/Mitel phone systems and generic SIP trunking

Hello, We've had a small but growing number of customers or leads with Shoretel/Mitel phone systems that want SIP trunking, but when we begin trying to setup and test trunking, we're being told they can't configure how the SIP trunking behaves, and that for the vendor to get support, the ITSP needs to be signed up for their Center of Excellence and qualify our SIP trunking with them. One customer says they are using a "MiVoice Business vMCD or 3300 with a MBG Proxy server in server-gateway", the other a "MiVC_Connect_Build_21.90.4127.0". I'm told a couple others are using ShoreTel phone systems, but I haven't seen details for those yet. We're mostly just using Broadworks for SIP trunking, and we've provided SIP trunking for Mitel systems in the past. Does anyone have experience with continuing to make these systems work with generic SIP trunking, or experiences like I've described above? RTP Proxy TTL Behavior

We are occasionally running into a situation where our IP Header TTL expires in transit for RTP streams. It has been our observation that our SBC B2BUA that anchors media is not resetting the TTL on RTP packets but is on SIP packets. Is there a standard expected behavior for how SBC B2BUA with media anchoring might handle RTP packets? I would have thought if it resets the SIP packet TTL it would also reset the RTP packet TTL. Thoughts?

Charter Porting Department

Anyone have a contact at Charter's porting department that knows their ass from a hole in the ground? Doing our first port from them and they're not promptly responding to requests for us to get set up in their system. "To register your company for the use of this portal, please contact us at Charter.STL.LSR at charter.com to request a Trading Partner form." I did, and they responded once, but they were clueless.
