Group: I am trying to complete a conversion from Acme Packet/Oracle SBC to Metaswitch Perimeta SBC. We found late during the cutover process that Polycom/Metaswitch hasn?t implemented a common TCP strategy to keep firewall TCP sessions/connections alive. Has anyone in the group successfully implemented a TCP strategy and if so, am I missing anything? With the ACME topology, all phones do the following regardless of protocol to maintain pinholes through firewalls: 1 SEC Phone -> Register -> Firewall -> SBC -> Register -> Broadsoft 1 SEC Phone <- Register (expire 60 Seconds) <- Firewall <- SBC <- Register (Expire 1 Hour) <- Broadsoft 60 SEC Phone -> Register -> Firewall -> SBC 60 SEC Phone <- Register (expire 60 Seconds) <- Firewall <- SBC Polycom: Requires use to frequent SIP registration (maintained by Perimeta) to keep SIP pinholes through firewalls alive. Metaswtich: Requires TCP clients (Polycom) to maintain pinholes using native TCP keepalive syn/ack messages. Polycom?s implementation of ?TCP keepalives? is only applicable if the phone is using TLS. There is no such setting for non-tls TCP based traffic. So the phone will establish a TCP connection to the SBC, and then site dormant if no registration/call/subscription messages traverse. The firewall will close its ports, and the phone will lose connectivity. Metaswitch has a fast-nat feature, which is used to shield switches from UDP based registrations. When enabled, fast-nat modifies the endpoint expire timer to allow the endpoint to re-register (keeping the firewall session alive). For UDP, this works correctly, and the SBC responds to the endpoint with a 200OK. But for TCP, the SBC passes the re-registration attempt back to the switch. BellSouth Test Calls

BellSouth subscribers have been having issues connecting to some of our numbers in Florida. I have made some routing adjustments and want to retest, however I don't have a BellSouth line and haven't been able to get a hold of the original callers having the issue. Upcoming Fees for Text Enabled Telephone Numbers (Bandwidth.com)

So I got this today from Bandwidth.com. A quick Google search yields no announcements or news that I can see. A call to Bandwidth got me zero information about how much this new "fee" will be on each number. Anybody have any more in-depth information about this? List URI BLF Config Unique?

Is the way Broadsoft implements Busy Lamp Field (BLF) with a list URI unique only to Broadsoft? I believe I am talking about Enhance BLF. In the configuration of BLF on a Polycom phone using Broadsoft there is a Broadsoft List URI field. The same is true with Yealink, Gigaset, Cisco, and other phones. Instead, each line you want to monitor, needs to be added in the config file. The phone then has to be rebooted, and the new config file has to be loaded. Here is what the freeswitch wiki shows: Enhanced BLF provides ringing indication and directed call pick-up capability. Once a productivity license has been installed, the BLF configuration can be added to the phone1.cfg(resp. in a phone-specific settings file like "${MAC}-settings.cfg). Sophisticated Voice-Response Robocalls

I just got a pretty sophisticated voice-response robocall. Caller: "Hello is Jen there?" (My wife's name. Coincidence or intentional?) Me: "I'm sorry, Who is this?" Caller: "Oh sorry I was calling for either of you. This is Debbie [something] and I'm calling about ... [sales pitch for something]" Me: "Excuse me, could you tell me what 5 plus 7 is?" Caller: "Oh well then I'll call back later, OK?" Me: "No." Caller: "OK, bye." Now I could tell that these were recordings pretty quickly, but I had to throw a Turing Test at it to be sure. The call and audio quality was good, and frankly, I was impressed, right until the anger flooded in about it being a robocall. Anyone else experience the same?
