As my initial email said, we've been looking at the NetBorder box from you guys, but I want to see what other options (if any) are out there. Our current solution isn't very conducive to growth. If you need to transcode 5000 channels I would be looking at hw solution. You can go with SW solution but the cost of sw licences and servers and rack space becomes prohibitive. Assuming this is SIP/RTP application, you could look at major SBC vendors, including Sangoma Technologies. You can transcode 5000 sessions in as little as 2x1U SBC appliances that support HW trans-coding. Preventing calls to cell phones with guaranteed accuracy

I have a customer in market research who is legally required to manually dial calls to cell phones. Right now they are considering abandoning all of their auto/predictive dialer software and going to manual dial for everything, because the list-scrubbing services have been shown to be inaccurate. There are extreme penalties for auto-dialing a cell phone, and "best effort" is NOT a defense to this, at all. For example, Gallup just settle a claim for $12M. So they need a totally accurate way to prevent a cell phone call from originating from their dialer. The only thing I can think of is some sort of LRN dip + LRN-to-carrier-type response. One of their people talked to Neustar, but didn't get great answers because he doesn't really understand telephony. Before I get in touch with Neustar, I thought I'd see if people here have some ideas. If you provide a commercial product for this, please feel free to tell me so on or off list, the customer is willing to pay for the service and we're open to all options. I don't have a budget number yet but manual dialing is going to cost them quite a bit for some types of studies.

All, I realize this may be off the beaten path for this list, but is there anybody here who is fluent in LTE networks and the standards that govern them? I'm not sure what other list would be appropriate...I looked through the 3GPP's listserv but there are a staggering number of lists and I suspect they are not intended for laymen/outsiders. I have a very specific question about UEs, UICCs, and RRC security negotiation (integrity & ciphers) during attachment, and so far I have not found our vendor to be very helpful. If there is somebody out there that knows something about this area, and is willing to chat with me about it, feel free to contact me off-list. Isn't it impossible to decide if a number is a cell phone or a land line because of local number portability? Local Rwandan DID for US company?

Howdy, folks, A consulting client is traveling to Rwanda for business, and I'd like to provide him with a local number he can call to reach me if need be. I don't see any Rwandan DIDs at Twilio or VOIP.ms. Any leads? This is a nice-to-have, not essential, so I'd like to see pricing similar to South African DIDs. Voice capabilities are my baseline requirement, with SMS as a nice bonus. ADT Alarms Special Dialing?

All, I appreciate the insight into this with regard to alarms, especially that they'd trip up T.38, which will probably save me some time in the future. So far so good on alarms and credit card machines, but I'd run into some older CPE type Cisco VG that would mangle and eat modem calls no matter what we did with it. Is there a compendium of information anywhere regarding devices, signaling, and compatibility with CPE? One of our alarm monitoring companies just said that many of their older (FBI type) panels don't work via VoIP in their experience, but other than previously mentioned sensitivity to DTMF it should be possible. Liability and service performance aside, just speaking technically. Also, regarding Sandy and FiOS customers - it was quite a hot topic for a while that the flooding had absolutely trashed the copper plant in a number of areas. Leaded cables with cracked jacket, or enclosures with long-failed positive pressure had allowed water in and ruined the copper. While that's not your run of the mill power or service outage, I'm not entirely certain you can count on a wireline provider to provide longevity of CO battery over time, or even that you're not connected through some span/regen that is independently powered. It certainly helps piece of mind to move the failure "somewhere else" than where you happen to be, but I can't believe it would be as granite-tough reliable as commonly thought.
