Hello People / CUCME Experts, This is my very first post to this list, so hello to everyone, and i really hope to see if someone can suggest/recommend any troubleshooting action plan in which several Cisco 7961 loaded with the latest SCCP Firmware version (8.3(4) SR1) are displaying the Logging screen indefinitely and stays there forever, when configured to work with Extension Mobility, the same thing happens when trying to log out, the phone displays logging out indefinitely. We have to exit out of the screen on the 7961 phone to get back to the main screen. This is a basic configuration that I have running on my device (IOS Version 15.0(1)XA and Call Manager Express 8.0) voice logout-profile 1 user tphone-phone password 1234 number 201 type normal voice user-profile 2 pin 9999 user me password pass123 number 5 type cw-overlay speed-dial 1 135 label Scott blf ephone-dn 5 dual-line number 301 no-reg primary label 301 description PhoneA Analog name PhoneA Analog call-forward busy 341 call-forward noan 341 timeout 10 ephone-dn 10 dual-line number 201 no-reg primary label 201 description Phone Test name Phone Test call-forward busy 341 call-forward noan 341 timeout 10 ephone 5 device-security-mode none mac-address ABCD.ABCD,ABCD type 7961 logout-profile 1 telephony-service url authentication http://10.1.10.1/voiceview/authentication/authenticate.do Is there any way to troubleshoot/debug what could be going on ?? Canadian DIDs for SIP VoIP provider?

We're a VoIP provider in California with carrier arrangements for DIDs throughout much of the US. We have a few customers with offices in Canada and are beginning to get inquiries from others with cross-border US/Canadian presence. Has anyone gone down this path that can give some pointers? Obviously we can put IADs with FXO (or even PRI) ports on-premise at each customer location tied to the local telco but this doesn't scale all that well. I'm looking for legal/regulatory info about such things as taxes, 9-1-1, getting listed in the local white pages, etc. as well as any technical obstacles and recommended providers. Technically it appears to be pretty straightforward. Yes I like free switch as well. Its a vastly improved platform. There is excellent documentation. The author also goes into detail about why a platform was built from scratch. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

Trouble getting access in a building.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to deal with someone who will not allow access to the building Telecom Closet? The problem we are having is with one of the building tenants and not the landlord. The telecom closet has wound up in the back of a tenants suite and they will only allow an AT&T tech to enter the closet. AT&T will not extend the wiring to our customer's suite because there is not a conduit, yet we can't get a tech into the closet to install the conduit. Even with the landlord's help we can't get in. They are a remote office for a state lottery and they keep throwing that it's a violation of their security policy. I am going to have to visit the site tomorrow and see if I can get anywhere with the person who would not let our tech into the telecom closet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Richey

Question for US based subscribers: Does anyone have a good, foolproof method of handling foreign white page listings and getting customer TNs into all 411 databases? We have found that many domestic phone companies will not accept FWPLs from Voip Service Providers....the whole thing can get messy and thorny. We have a vendor partner that does our 411 for us but not all companies subscribe to their data bases we have found...hit or miss in actual practice. Any ideas? Broadworks Patch Religion

My original reply still applies to patch dependencies. IMHO if one needs certain patches to address negatively impacting behaviour, one looks into all of the dependencies required, perform the appropriate lab testing, and then deploy if all lab testing and pre-production soak periods have passed without problems. If there are any problems in testing, one has to consider which bugs/behaviours are worse to live with for the time being and make a judgement call. Really it's all about trade-offs, some prefer to take the extra time and be more thorough and others like to take extra risks to be more nimble. I'm more in favor of being as thorough as possible and taking the time to ensure as smooth of a patch rollout as possible to mitigate as much risk as possible relating to new bugs and/or unwanted behaviours. BW explicitly states that "customers can pick and choose the patches they want", and they make it easy for us to do so. This process has worked quite well for us so far. It takes a good deal of effort to keep up with over 1 patch per day across the entire BW universe of products, but we've done it and had good results. Recently, the "open you mouth and close your eyes" idea has been advanced, in which we would apply ALL patches, regardless of function or issue. We'd wait 30 days or so to let everyone else find the problems with the contents of the default patch bundle, then just slap the bundle on without any thinking. We'd still test like chimps on crack after patching, of course. Are you picky or promiscuous with your BW patches? Since this discussion is very vendor/version specific, we run BW R14sp9.
