I am testing Shoretel shoretel with Broadsoft and Call transfer seems to fail. Eyebeam--> Shoregear--> SIP Provider(Broadsoft)--> PSTN Eyebeam use calls a cell phone on the PSTN side and then tried to transfer the call to PSTN user#2, Has anyone tested this with a SIP Softphone registered to Shoretel ?

Greetings: I'm looking for advice on a project/proof of concept I'm working on. I would like to create a settlement-free peering fabric for voice traffic between and among some peer institutions in my area. Because this is more of a side-project for cost cutting measure, I'm primarily looking at open source software, though commercial product recommendations would be helpful as well. The organizations I would like to connect have their own PBXs with large blocks of numbers (whole NPA-NXXs), with no number portability in or out. I imagine both at the individual PBXs and peering fabric, the number routing would be static. To put another way, we would manually configure which connections the block of telephone numbers is reachable at. Here's what I think I need: Basic SIP routing TCP, TLS, and UDP support What would be nice to have: IPv6 CDR What is probably not needed: User agent client registration, presence, IM, voice mail I see there are several different open source voice projects, ranging from Asterisk to Kamailio, sip-router and others. I'm seeking comments on what you would use for this situation. Are there any existing projects along these lines? Is there one project that is better than another for this application? Thank you

BW install process

I'm grinding through the BW (r14sp9) install process, and have noticed a fair amount of variability in the outcome. I'm holding the process constant (as far as I can tell), but sometimes the install breaks, sometimes it does not. If you've installed BW many times, have you ever noticed this kind of variability? I'm looking for a voice provider that can satisfy the following requirements: a) same USA-footprint as GlobalCrossing and Level3 (i.e., likely "downstream" from both). We'll need to port thousands of DID, currently served by GLBX and Level3, don't want *any* issues. b) able to provide PRI in 55 So.Market, San Jose, preferably with just an in-building x-conn. c) no issues with faxes traversing network, unconditionally (i.e., with same reliability as PSTN). Problems with defective Adtran TA900s

Hello, We deploy the total range of Adtran TA900s as CPE feature-rich boxes, and in general like the product. However, of the last 25 Adtran TA 900s we've deployed, we've had 6 with confirmed hardware defects where the symptoms range from the obvious hardware crashes, to much trickier and costly bugs to find, such as bad DSPs, and one that had a bad clocking chip. Adtran claims I'm alone in this, and it's gotten to the point where I'm seriously considering building a quality control TA900 tester in the lab to torture all prospective field boxes. Anyone notice anything like this percentage of defects? Ever noticed how the phrase "carrier grade" gets tossed around by vendors? They ship so many lethal bugs that all it means now is that they're going to try to charge "carrier prices" for their crap. Really, sit down and read the full set of release notes of the current version of any of your "CG" products. Read them in their entirely, and get a sense of how they describe the flow over the product through time. For a real jolt, play the fortune-cookie game with them. You know how you can append the phrase "in bed" to any fortune cookie fortune to make it even funnier? Try adding the phrase "in production" to the end of every defect notice. "Blah-blah-blah sipd stops - in production". "Blah-blah-blah core java process stops - in production". "Blah-blah-blah invalidates registrations - in production". "Blah-blah-blah reboots after 99 days - in production".

Testing waters with the ADTRAN TA5000 box

Folks, We are considering roll out of the TA5000 box and are in the research phase. ADTRAN sells it as an entry level multi-service CO box. Has anyone out there done comparative studies of this box with other vendors in terms of service flexibility, scaling and pricing as far as delivering of EFM and EoC services are concerned? I'd like to hear some alternative vendors....
