Does anyone have a recommendation for a SBC solution based on open source software? I am looking to implement a small SBC, and there isn't much of a budget. If anyone has any specific experience one way or the other with the available solutions I would like to get your feedback. Thanks! -Jonathan

Acme STUN

Has anybody used the STUN functionality of the Acme SD? I posed the following questions to our SE and engineer, but if anybody has actual experience with it I'd be curious to know how it works. -Does it work? J -Re: performance, is STUN less costly than a very short registration refresh rate (<30 seconds)? Some impact on performance of a fully loaded SD 4000 would be appreciated. -Is it a better solution than their hosted NAT traversal? Hey all, (I'm sure for those who I criss-cross lists with - you've seen it before)... We're definitely looking to replace our outgoing Nutrakes (pre-audiocodes assimilation) and we've been looking at a few. While I will say I'm impressed with Acme and Covergence (which is now Acme anyway), anyone care to either off or on list comment about others you've had success with. Any particular one with perhaps a pre-paid system/spinoff/module/compartment/* (don't ask) is a plus. Keep in mind, the less interops (big 4, VZ, GLBX, L3, AT&T) we can do, the better! (hooray for less work on the plates). So far, as stated, I personally liked Covergence's offering as have I Acme, haven't looked at Sonus yet, but was wondering what else are we (myself and colleagues) missing. Newport Networks is pretty much gone the puppets.com, socks.com, VirtualAvenue, Xoom route of the dinosaur. So without further a rambling... Cisco Gateways, REFER and TBCT/ECT

Cisco gateways do support TBCT in when the ISDN PRI is configured in user mode. This requires TBCT support on the network switch you're connecting it to. You'll also need to enable the TBCT supplementary service feature on the Serial interface in the router. For example: lab-cisco1(config)#int ser0/0/1:23 lab-cisco1(config-if)#isdn supp-service tbct ? notify-on-clear subscribed to get notification on transfered call clear tbct-with-crflg tbct req with cr flg <cr> When the router receives a REFER on the SIP side for an existing call it will initiate a TBCT remote operation on the PRI to the switch. Folks, Has anyone had any luck getting the Cisco VoIP gateways to do a TBCT or ECT when they receive a REFER message for a SIP call? In theory there is a way to do this in TCL script but I have never been able to get anyone at Cisco who knew how to actually configure it or make it work. For what it's worth AudioCodes supports this out the box in an extremely painless manner. As close to plug and play as you can get in TDM land. What to look for in a SIP Trunking concept?

Trying to develop an Enterprise SIP trunking concept that allows us the flexibility to interconnect with the major PBX vendors on one side and SIP trunking providers on the other side. Looking at ACMEPACKET as the Integrator SBC box for this concept. One thought was to ask the PBX vendors and Service Provider if they have adopted the SIP Connect 1.1 standard? I'm not a voice expert so would really appreciate any comments and /or suggestions on what we need to be weary of from each party as we develop this concept, especially with regard to regulatory obligations.
