i have a few Customers using Digium Servers we noticed on our installations when we upgraded their server to 7.2 and above the client starts reporting DTMF issues (DTMF is not recognized by the system) i have time troubleshooting this with Digium and with Adtran, they both point fingers at each other this issue only starts once upgrading the digium server to the new updates of 7.2 and above (even on the latest version 7.6.2) has anyone else experienced the same - what was the fix? Does anyone have any information on the legitimacy of the CLEC concern "Commio"? I've got several spam calls today from numbers in their blocks, including 509-666 (Spokane rate centre) and 513-493 (Cincinnati). They all leave a ~4 sec voicemail consisting solely of a beep tone. Vaguely related: For at least a year now, 100% of the spam calls I receive on both my VoIP number and my mobile are from numbers in Onvoy number blocks. Today we received a notice from one of our underlying carriers that included the following statement: * If a customer spoofs an ANI that they do not own, the clec's can forward > to call to a voiceless Voicemail which appears to be FAS. > Is there any legal device that actually supports this practice? I'm looking for a specific statute, FCC rule, precedent in a judicial ruling, or the like. The FCC has ruled that the SIP 608 response code is to be used for signaling when a call is rejected. I doubt the FCC or FTC has ruled that terminating carriers are permitted to cause loss of trust and revenue between upstream intermediate and originating carriers. Diversion header with counter=99

All, Has anyone ran into an issue where the diversion parameter "counter" is causing some calls to fail to an error message? Diversion: <sip:+1585xxxxxxx at 10.x.x.40:5060>;reason=unknown;counter=99 Basically we have a customer who forwards a call to their ATT cell. ATT plays an error message yet the customer's setup will pull the call back to our switch's voicemail after 30 seconds. This actually works if you let the error message play long enough. This setup works everywhere else like Verizon for example with no error message played. It rings as expected. Our invite goes out with two diversion headers and the top one simply duplicates the bottom but with the counter param added. I guess Level3 used to have this issue as well in the past? Because I found a Meta doc talking about this exact problem. Any advice is welcome. Thanks, Matt

Peerless issues in NY

Is anyone else having issues with Peerless in NY? Calls from Verizon and T-Mobile are not completing where the DID comes back to Airus. If the DID comes back to Peerless then it does work. Their NOC same back and blamed it on the Tandem. We have this issue every so often. The solution each time is to update the LRN to Peerless to make it work. I was told Peerless does this as they get paid more if a DID comes back to Airus (I was told this in passing and I have no way of knowing if this is true or not. )

False 911 calls and old abandoned DID

We have a customer who has received two calls from the police because "they" called 911, but they did not. The CLID shown is NOT one of theirs, but they think it might have been theirs many years ago. The CNAM on that number is their company name. Nobody answers the number, and it's with Qwest. Our logs show no calls to 911 from them. Any advice on this? It's just two calls at this point, just this week. They've been our customer for over five years, and this number has never been on our system.

Voice peering

Based on this presentation [0] from Comcast, they are interconnecting with their biggest voice peers via SIP rather than SS7. They appear to use ENUM for route selection. I'm sure others are doing this too, though I can't find anything public. I'm interested if anyone has more info on how this works. I'm guessing participants maintain their own private ENUM servers and just trust each other? As far as I know the only way to validate number ownership is via an LNP dip, which would be expensive to do for every call. I would like to be able to consume a service like that, at least in an outbound direction; as a small operator, I'm sure convincing large carriers to trust my ENUM server would be very difficult. But having a greater degree of interconnectedness (and mostly importantly avoiding TDM) seems like a good thing. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?
