Sansay VSXi vs Sonus SWe

We are in the market for a new SBC platform and have narrowed our choice down to two different products. The Sansay VSXi or the Sonus SWe. We will be running on a vmware hypervisor in several different markets. The SBC would be for SIP access with Broadworks and SIP peering with other carriers. I was wondering if anyone can share with me any of their experiences good or bad with either company on or off the list. Thanks, Jeff

Recommendations on Wholesale Fax Services

Like many I wish fax would just die, but it remains to be alive and kicking. Today our wholesale provider has a fax to email option, and a HTTPS fax adapter option. These are completely separate products today, and you can't use the same fax number on both of them. However, our customers really want both options combined into one, using the customer's same fax number. They would like: Inbound faxes go to email using fax to email. If desired, they can also make a copy go the their HTTPs fax adapter so the fax machine prints it out. The same fax number will be used by multiple employees, so hopefully there is no a limit on how many email addresses can be used for sending and receiving faxes. Outbound faxes are sent using the fax HTTPs adapter connected to their fax machine. The outbound number that the fax sever uses should be the actual clients fax number. Currently the wholesale fax solution we use displays some random number when sending outbound faxes from a completely different area code. Additionally, the client would like a web interface where they can send outbound faxes, and download inbound faxes.The web interface should show if the HTTPS fax adapter is registered to the service. Anyone have recommendations? I don't like the idea of using a regular T.38 or G.711 adapter as I don't think those work well. It seems the going retail rate for a fax service is $19.95 per month, so hopefully this wholesale solution would be in the $5 to $10 range per month. I assume there would be a one time fee for the actual adapter. Please let me know if you know anything that meets this criteria.

Broadworks call transfer destination lookup

Hello, Is it possible to configure Broadworks to use a third party tool to determine the destination (number / extension / bwUserID ) of a call transfer, such as a database SQL lookup or a bash / perl script? The input of that lookup would be the originating number. ie. if calling number is X, send to called number A if calling number is Y, send to called number B if calling number is not found, send to called number C Julien

Automated Test Tool recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations for automated test tools for testing call flows. We use sipp today and it gets the job done but it's a little cumbersome to set up and not quite what I need going forward. We could (and might) write one but that would be as expensive as buying one, so I'm hoping there's one that fits my wants. In an ideal world, this magical box would: 1- support standards-based SIP/RTP in-band and out of band DTMF, and TLS and SRTP 2- be simple to set up different call flows, including interactive calls (with tone detection) 3- can store 100's of pre-defined call flows for future use 4- can select some or all to be used in a test case to run in sequence or simultaneously 5- can be scheduled to run a test case 6- Can set thresholds for PDD, etc 7- Outputs a meaningful, easy to read report of success and failure, including reason for failure 8- Can simulate bad calls, if desired 9- be able to interact with API's for click-to-dial, presence, etc (Not required but would be a nice add) 10- Bake brownies every afternoon (hey, a guy can dream) Are you using (or selling) anything that fits this description? Troubles with Comcast

I apologize in advance for I am new to this level of voice. I'm sending calls to the local tandem and I'm getting all circuits are busy when I call a Comcast number (or one ported to Comcast). Calls to those numbers work from other places (like my cell phone). Calls to other carriers on that tandem work. How can I reach someone at Comcast to troubleshoot this? T-Mobile DTMF issue

We are having a problem with calls coming from T-Mobile dropping the call immediately when they select an auto-attendant option. Only from them, and we've tested the other three majors as well as some landlines. Anyone heard of this? Ideas?

Broadworks / Merging calls with Voipmon

Hello, We currently have Broadworks/AcmePacket handling calls to/from customers. We have a couple VoipMon sensors running watching all traffic inside/outside our SBC. Currently calls are presented in VoipMon as two different calls (PSTN -> Broadworks & Broadworks -> Polycom) or (Polycom -> Broadworks & Broadworks -> PSTN). The Call-id on each call is different, Broadworks generates a new SIP Dialog for the call. If the customer has a hunt group there could be several INVITEs going out to multiple phones, all with different Call-Id. Does anyone know of a way to get VoipMon to merge the calls into a single CDR/SIP Diagram? Is there a way to configure Broadworks to embed the original Call-Id in the new INVITE (Parent-Call-Id Header)? I?m running R20sp1 Thanks -Matt -- Matthew Crocker Crocker Communications, Inc. 911 testing

Do you have your customers do a 911 test? And if so, what procedure do you advise? Some cities don't care if you call 911 and say it's not an emergency, others, like NYC, will flip their shit (I've been told). I'm updating all of our new-client testing docs and trying to figure out a solution that works anywhere.
