Has anyone seen or heard of SIP stack attacks (e.g. stack difference or stack fingerprinting) being used in the wild? http://www.blackhat.com/presentations/bh-usa-06/BH-US-06-Scholz.pdf talks very briefly about the possibility of using implementation bugs in an attack. It seems to me that the most likely effect of such an attack would be to crash the SIP process on the UA (DoS), but authentication bypassing could also be possible if the attacker got lucky. If such an attack is possible (a big 'if'), I suspect it would be very hard to execute; the risk from such attacks appears low. To put this into context, I'm wondering how paranoid to be when configuring my Acme Packet SBC. It's possible to blacklist any endpoint which sends malformed SIP messages, but that seems like a bit of an overreaction. Cheers, Paul

Copying existing 15454 users to new node?

Is there an easy way to copy existing users to a new node, or do I have to have them create their accounts manually every time we turn up a node (or just delete their account and readd to all under network view?) I'm aware there's a way to do it with Radius but I'm not ready to have my transport network depend on the good graces of a reasonably proximate PC server.

seems that the dns is broken on the ilbcfreeware.org domain - I have no idea how to contact them since the site is offline. In our case, we are Inter-Connected with CenturyLink. We typically do what your talking about when we are in the process of converting a Centurylink customer over to our service. In the last year Centurylink finally provided us with a web based Customer Service Record(CSR) system that give us access to the data your referring to. From there we plug the customer's info into Centurylink's other web based LSR system to submit our LNP requests. I hope this helps. I have a client that is just getting into porting and he asked me how to go about gathering the information needed to port a number to them. I have the basic concept of it but haven't really got involved in doing it so I'm not sure how most CLECs gather the information they need to port a number to themselves. I know the LECs LSR system usually has a lot of information about existing services so I told him to look there, but what do most of you that actually do porting use to pull the information you need on the service provider that you want to port away from? Small SS7 STPs

Gday folks. Looking for some options for small sized SS7 ITPs. Low speed (ie timeslots in a 2mb circuit) and m3ua -- pretty much like the Cisco 2811 ITP (before it was EOL'd). Need to handle a handful of old TDM signalling links into our M3UA softswitches. Currently I'm running 4 geographically dispersed Cisco 2811 ITPs with about 4 low speed links each -- this works well for us, but interested in anything else out there since the 2811 will soon be end-of-sale.
