CNAM lookup options for Broadowks (SIP or SOAP)

Hello, I?m looking into getting CNAM lookups working in Broadworks instead of having my Taqua perform SS7 dips. Broadworks supports lookups via SIP or SOAP. I?m testing ezcnam.com via SIP. Broadworks sends the SUBSCRIBE and I get a NOTIFY response. Broadworks then fails on decoding the Calling-Name from ezcnam Does anyone on this list use a CNAM service with Broadworks (R20sp1)? Static on Century Link calls

Hi, I use CL as a 1-800 & LD provider. I've been hearing static and clipping on my calls for over a month now. I've had a ticket open with CL for about a month now and just heard this issue is affecting multiple customers. Has anyone else heard about this ? Thanks Tim

Blind Transfer Issue to iPhones on Verizon

Hi All, We're seeing an issue since 6/1/17 where blind transfers from an external number to iPhones on Verizon Wireless don't ring the iPhone. Has anyone else seen this? Scenario: External caller dials in. Blind transfer is done to the Verizon iPhone. The iPhone never rings. External caller dials in. Warm transfer is done to the Verizon iPhone. The iPhone rings. Internal caller dials the Verizon iPhone and the iPhone rings. We've never seen this issue until 6/1/17. Has anyone else had complaints? How do you update/manage your notification contacts?

We're at the point where we really need to clean up and update our notifications contact list (people to notify of outages, changes, etc). I'm curious what people here use. We use Freshdesk for our support tickets, and that was a good list to start with, but as employees change it wouldn't get updated necessarily. Something we can simply pay for and outsource is ideal. We're an open source company, but time is a precious resource right now.

We are getting a sudden burst of complaints concerning TCP SIP working but no UDP RTP audio flowing, specifically on T-Mobile. Is anyone else seeing this?

Maintenance for Performance Technologies SEGway

We have been using a set of PTI SEGway x201s with point code emulation for a number of years now. We also have an unlicensed spare in stock. The maintenance contract renewals are due and the two quotes I've received are quite high. I know of at least one other company that has chosen to drop the vendor maintenance and take care of that in-house. I would like to hear from anyone that is currently using SEGways and find out what they chose to do for maintenance. I would also be very interested to hear of any bad experiences from chosing the in-house option. Thanks. Mitigating or stopping TDOS attacks - any advice?

Hello all, I am curious what others have in place or actions they take when a customer is the target of a TDOS attack? TDOS being Telephony Denial of Service. An attack where the perp uses whatever means to flood a customer's telephone service with unwanted calls. Say you are a multi state CLEC. You have multiple brands of switches (Meta, Taqua, DMS, Genband, etc...) as well as ACME and Perimeta SBCs in use. You have legacy TDM as well as SIP trunks. Your customers are served via legacy and modern methods. You have hosted PBX as well (Broadsoft). Many customers are on your LAN but many are on the internet. So that is our situation. Or you can be bigger or smaller. No matter the size I would welcome how you handle it. We have asked our manufacturers for advice but they have only provided the basic number blocking available by default on the switch. Meta and Genband have provided little other than pointing to existing features. If you have any thoughts on whether there is something we can provide based upon SIP messaging or other creative solutions that would be awesome! So I welcome a discussion on this and any advice other operators can give. Thank you very much, Matt

Mike, While interesting I am more concerned about actual denial of service attacks. Like if I hacked a couple hundred elastix pbxs and used their capabilities to hammer a customer's main number during business hours. Even though they have 50 call paths on their sip trunk it would be saturated easily and reacting takes time. Hours or more? And that assumes a trivial attack without obfuscating the calls in some fashion. After all these years I thought a single asterisk server could handle more calls in a stable fashion but it appears not. Once past 500 concurrent calls, depending on hardware and config, things start to get sketchy. It has been a while since I last used asterisk for a VM server or pbx. Those days seem long ago. Over the years we have had customers experience TDOS. While we have no current customer experiencing the issue today we wanted to research our options just in case. It seems metaswitch has a cloud based robocall blocking feature we just read about. I have to wonder if that hook in the switch could be used for something. As others have said though... gathering all this cdr info, analyzing it, and then blocking certain calls while keeping good ones is quite the task to program. And to do it really fast. One can stop trivial attacks that have a pattern but a determined attacker can be quite crafty. A "voice CAPTCHA" is a viable solution. But it does require infrastructure commitments on your part, even if, as you say, an Asterisk box can handle many concurrent calls. If you want to recycle that across multiple customers, that kind of moat can get mildly complicated. The only concern I would have is from a user experience point of view; your customer might not want their callers to have to go through a confusing menu, and it would doubtless be psychologically off-putting. I don't know what kind of business the customer is, but imagine if you called your dentist's office and were prompted to enter some sort of PIN.
