SIPp works well provided you have a bit of time to learn the ropes, have an appropriate place to host it, and don't need a tool that will report on the quality of the call. Broadsoft MoH

I was talking with a friend about their broadsoft implementation, and they mentioned that the had a client complaining about Broadsoft's music on hold's features. Basically, the said you could only upload one music file at a time, and it would only play the beginning of that file every time. Plus you can only upload a .wav file, and broadsoft won't convert a .mp3 or other audio file for you. Sure enough I checked out Wholesalers implementation, and found the same thing. Is this true for all Broadsoft installations? This seems like quite a feature limitation for the most advanced softswitch out there.

Need to stress test our SBCs

I am looking for a way to generate some artificial load through our SBCs to simulate a daytime "busy hour" during late-night maintenance windows. I'm hoping to get audio quality measurements on both media legs, per test call, so I can validate that whatever changes were made during late hours will not manifest into issues for actual customer call traffic during peak times. I've heard of expensive hardware that can potentially do this (call hammer?), but I'm not aware of any "cloud-based" solutions. Does anyone know of a good "load testing as a service" out there that works well? Polycom Voice Quality Monitoring (VQ Mon) with Hosted Solutions

Recently we have been using Polycom phones, and paid the additional $2 for the VQ Mon license.VQmon is an embedded agent that supports the RTCP XR (RFC3611) and SIP Voice Quality Reporting (RFC6035) protocols, and is able to report the impact of transient IP problems on user perceived quality. Does Broadsoft and/or Acme Packet SBCs collect this information, and report on it? Today we are using MOS scores from the routers (Adtran and Edgewater), but the per phone monitoring sounds like a better solution as it is at the users hearing level. Are any hosted platforms using this information for anything useful? Or the VQMon a bad or not widely implemented solution?

Hi, We're considering using VoIP Monitor to analyze the call quality of our Asterisk switch. Here is a snip from the last 8 days. I notice that the 99% MOS drops when we seem to have more calls going on. Should the 99% MOS be pretty flat throughout the day or is this graph indicating that I have a problem that I need to look into? (I'm not having any complaints. Just trying to be pro-active.)
