All, I am relatively certain most of you have heard about the issue CallCentric had experienced recently where they came under a significant DDOS attack. My question to the community at large is, who here has been down this road and been attacked; and what was the signature of that attack. I am sure your are not alone and we could probably all do fairly well to compare notes on the topic. This year alone we have seen at least 7 different flavors of DDOS attacks aimed at our resources some impactful some not, and I would be extremely interested in comparing notes with anyone else (especially callcentric engineers) who are interested in hoping to share information and perhaps prevent the next major incident. Main number fail-safe solution for small ITSP

I'm curious how other small VoIP providers handle having a fail-over for their main (support) phone number in case their entire infrastructure is unable to take calls. I know we all build in redundancy, but for the big what-if scenario where nothing is available and the calls fail, you still need to take your customer support calls. We have one carrier who does PSTN failover, but they're far from our primary or an ideal carrier for us. None of our major origination providers do this. -- Carlos Alvarez TelEvolve 602-889-3003

Number Portability Within a Carrier

So there are some pretty big Tier 1 names in the DID/telecom world: Level3, Verizon, Bandwidth.com. Many resellers resell the DIDs they get from these bigger companies. The problem is that the Tier 1 company shows up as the "owner" of phone numbers that we get from our Tier 2 or even Tier 3 providers. That's all fine and good, but the problem is this: Me ------> Tier 2 provider --> Tier 1 provider / Not Me --> Tier 2 provider / When someone submits a request to port a number, and they port it to a different Tier 2 provider that gets its numbers from the same Tier 1 provider, I have no way, not even with an LNP dip, to find out that it was ported, that the owner had changed. I'm pretty sure Tier 1 providers don't have an API or any way that I might be able to find out that they moved a number from one of their direct customers to another. Am I wrong? So how do we deal with this? How do we find out, in a definitive and authoritative and programmatic manner, when a number we think is ours is ported away? Push DTMF to IAD after call answered

I need to be able to initiate a call to an IAD and then automatically send some DTMF tones to it after it picks up. This is on Broadworks, currently using a SPA-2102 but whatever works is fine. Thoughts? Thanks, Rob

Broadsoft / 3CX SIP Trunks

Greetings fellow voipsters, Have any of you done a SIP trunk integration between Broadsoft and 3CX? Or, more specifically, I have a customer with a 3CX device (don't ask) that is registered and I can send an INVITE, but their end denies the call (sends a 480 Temporarily Unavailable response) because it is having trouble routing it to the destination in the 3CX system. This is because they are expecting only the extension (4-digits), which I can send in the To: header but the SIP URI is the full, registered User ID so that the SBC knows how to get it to them. They are expecting only 4 digits in both the INVITE URI header and the To header. I know I can create a complex/convoluted header manipulation with the SBC but it just feels like there must be another way. Anyone know how to config the 3CX -- or even have a decent workaround -- to support this? Thanks
